In an L-Ported box, how far can the port be from the back wall?

Is there a minimum required space between them?

My box would be 23inches deep and i want to make a 12 inch deep port. Would that be possible?

In a slot ported box that l's whatever your width of the port is how far the l needs to be from the back of the box. So let's say you have a box that's 18" deep with a port that's 4" wide by 10" tall. You need to make the port 21" deep to get the tuning that you want. You are using .75" wood so the first part of the l needs to be 13.25" deep which will leave 4" between the back wall and the port. It is 13.25" and not 14" cause the port is inside the box and you have to account for the thickness of the material.
