BIG PROBLEM!!!!!!! http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/public/style_emoticons/default/mad.gif http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/public/style_emoticons/default/mad.gif http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/public/style_emoticons/default/mad.gif well i got a call last night from grumpy aka the owner and he said that all of a sudden 2 subs shut off and something started smokin which he believed was one of the amps...... he has checked the subs they are fine... he pulled the box and all the wiring looks fine..... both amps turned on and light up green not going into protect mode but the one that was believed to be smokin is not putting out any sound to the subs..... im hopefully gonna be going out to his house later today to check it out. Anyone have any idea what the problem might be or what could have caused this???????????

only thing i can think of is that it's wired too low of an impedance for the amp and the outputs got fried. the amp still will turn on if this happens too....happened to me a couple of times

well the amps are 1ohm stable and the subs are commin into the amps at .7 ohms.....would .3 ohms make that much of a difference?????

see.. when you wire something like that the factory put some items into the amp to give it the correct power at a specific ohm load, but when it is wired lower than what it is stable at it is trying to push out more power than what it can actuall produce. This leads to fried outputs, burned resistors, etc. Unless you mod it, it will most likely fry your speaker outputs if you wire it lower. if you remember, meade thought it would be OK to wire one of his t4k's to .7 ohms when he got his BTL's because he thought it would be OK, or go into protect mode before it messed up, but it skipped the protect mode and fried and he had to send it off for repairs.

i think meade tried to wire his to like .3 something didnt he?? or am i wrong i swear i read that.... now i could see that making a difference but at .7 i mean i know it make sense what you guys are saying its just retarted that something that little will completely fuck the amp. is there anyway to fix the "fried speaker outs" on the amps and then i could just re wire it to a higher load???
