MTX J30 Posted October 29, 2009 Report Posted October 29, 2009 i have 2 speakers back there right now. i have 2 alpine type s speakers and gt series blaupunkt(sp). would i be able to add these 4 speakers back there and make like a miny box for all 6 of them? if not what should i do? i wouldnt amp any of them. if u dont think adding those 4 will do anything i would make a raffle for them. if i make a raffle for them would 200 raffles for a dollar each be good? u think people would buy them? Once or twice I have missed having a back seat / rear hatch, but all in all people love to see a walled vehcile. It just screams "i'm not fucking around with my setup, im loud"
Nic Posted October 29, 2009 Report Posted October 29, 2009 you would just put 4 speakers on your head unit? all 4 head unit channels behind you? why not amp them? why would you think you can not build a box for them... i think you would be better off putting them up on ebay for buy it now 200 than raffling them off.... im not following what your saying though... Full eclipse system is next on list.. soon to gut and redo the honda as new project/rolling buissness card i miss the sound of those old school strokers on beast amps

audiofanaticz Posted October 29, 2009 Report Posted October 29, 2009 ill probally put them on ebay. and i dont want to amp them b.c i have other stuff i want to do to my car that i think is more important than amping speakers. well if that is your reason, I strongly suggest to you that YOU DO NOT ADD MORE SPEAKERS POWERED BY YOUR HEADUNIT! Most headunits are only 50 watts PEAK per channel at 4 ohms. A headunits RMS wattage is usually 11-25 watt rms per channel at 4 ohm. Head units run hot the way they are made already, the heatsink for the onboard amplifier is already tiny (like there power ratings). These amps are really only 4 ohm stable per channel. Adding 2 speakers per channel will have your headunit running at 2 ohms instead of the rated 4 ohms they where made for, which will increase the amps heat even more, with no way to dissipate the heat (you have to remember headunits are in a tight cramped space already with no air circulation)! The added heat alone at 2 ohms is enough to blow your headunits onboard amp, and you want to run 6 speakers off the rear 2 channels?? You would be running a ohm load of ruffly 1.3 ohms per side (left/right) which is just asking for problems! And before you even ask, No you can not "bridge" your headunit amp and if you "could" it would only be stable at 8 ohms. I know a very select few pioneer headunits allowed you to bridge your rear channels for a low powered subwoofer, but I dont think they are made any more, but even still it wont compare to a real amp.

For the second part of your question, raffling them off, 200 raffles at a $1 each is outragious. I sell type s 6.5s at the shop for 75$, you can get them online under $70, or 6by9s for $10 more. http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_11636_...ne+SPS-600.html a pair of Blaupunkts 6by9's can be bought for under $40 online, and sizes 6.5 or 5.25 are less. http://shopper.cnet.com/car-speakers/blaup...9-32400246.html Theres no way these 4 speakers would be worth $200, even if they are new never used!. I think anything over $100 shipped for all 4 speakers would be a rip off.
Nic Posted October 29, 2009 Report Posted October 29, 2009 amping them would be the best thing you could do... clean up your mids and highs... that is one thing i push for on every install ive ever done... is people to amp there speakers... soo clean sounding i hate systems with speakers on the head unit... there are plenty of cheap 4 channels out there that will work... Full eclipse system is next on list.. soon to gut and redo the honda as new project/rolling buissness card i miss the sound of those old school strokers on beast amps
