different box calculators have different tuning...

Recommended Posts

i built a box using the re box calculator tuned to 37.6hz.

i just re-checked my work here

http://www.mediafire.com/?2ypo0iymlum

and it's saying in the end it's 44.7hz

both have the same dimensions and they both say the same 'box volume' but tuning is off...

opinions?

how do you take screen shots so i can post up unless you guys wanna punch it in yourself and play with it

40" wide 14" tall 16" deep

port is 3.5"x12.5" and 11" long

the RE calc is known to not be very accurate. putting those dimensions in my calculator, i came up with around 43 hz myself.

and to take screen shots, press the PrtScn (print screen) button on the top right of your keyboard. then open paint, paste it there, resize or crop if you need/want, then save it and upload it to photobucket or wherever you put your pics

EDIT: ^what he said, tho i think 7 hz is a BIG difference between the two. i did see someone tho put their total length in the port in the 'length 2' box which told the RE calc that the port was that long, plus the length of whatever the box was. so it made it super long.

its the 15" lvl 4

i have sub displacement at .15" but i also set it to 0 and didn't change to much, i'll take screen shots

but fawk, 44hz is a little high for my likings and it's a badass box... hah

and for the re calculator, just put 0 for second port length or whatever, the 11 inches is in the first part

just keep using andym85's calc or expos

personally i like andy's because u see the math and equations he uses... and u can do aeroports/circular ports

did u put the correction andym85(amatt85) said to enter into cell H iirc?

can u tell me what u have for cell H17 please... it should be

=IF(A21<=L17+(J7-B18),A21-L17,J7-L17)

ok there are two big differences

pay attention to the lengths of the port pieces... this is where its off

in andym's... the actual wood length is 9.25"... his accounts for sub displ

in the re it is 11"... does not account for sub displ (do u see how it says total port length of 17.75... this is why its lower)

so shrink the box on ROE .15cuft by shrinkin one of the dimensions (ur gonna have to use tenths) and enter in 8.5" and you should have very similar tuning

(takes a bow)
