My setup with my 4 12s went to sh!t because my downfire box was hitting the floor and killed 2 of the subs and I already have a big ass box built and ported that was gonna house them and I cant find 2 more to replace the broken ones cuz they were discontinued like 2 years ago. Thinking about getting 2 type r 15s because my amp will push 2 of them pretty good even though they can take more than rated power. Specs show they do not need a whole lot of airspace to get loud especially for 15s. alpine specs were 1-2.5 cuft sealed and 1.75-3 cuft ported. I will be giving them between 2.5 and 3 ported. Are these things loud and do they hit low? on around 700 rms a piece? It will prolli do alrite but I wouldn't expect a ton from 2 underpowed woofers in an inefficient enclosure. I know the subs can take more than rated but do you really think they will be that badly underpowered? I hope they get loud, I mean they will be getting their rated rms, If so why would alpine rate them so low? Truthfully you prolli would have been louder with a single 15" R off that power in a proper enclosure. and i guess im not really expecting a TON from them I just want it to be louder than my 4 12s sealed and downfire setup. and 2 out of the 4 subs were in chambers much to small for the subs. AI James Posted November 13, 2009 Report Posted November 13, 2009 they arent being underpowered really you can get great results of these subs with rated power, you just cant choke them in a small box like you plan to do.
