rival904
Ok, Let me explain this as best as I can. I have 2 4 channels, both mounted to my amp rack, I have them on 2 distro blocks for power and ground(1/0in and 2 4ga out) I have engine whine pretty bad, and have tried almost every trick in the book. First off, I am not running a headunit right now, just iPod into the EQ. The amps are grounded roughly 3ft directly to my 2nd battery. The EQ is grounded the to chassis If I unplug the RCA's out of the amps, the engine noise stops I have tried a new set of RCA's, notta Power and RCA's are ran on the opposite sides of the truck I purchased a Stinger ground loop isolator from Darvex, still there and noticeable. Now, in all reality, Im sure the engine noise isnt that bad, but when you have 8 pro audio style 6.5s, everything's loud. I can drown it out by cranking it up really high, but In my mind its still there. I also have a train horn installed, and when the compressor kicks on, I can hear that through my speakers also(compressor is grounded to the frame of the truck.) Any other ideas? MrSkippyJ
First off, I am not running a headunit right now, just iPod into the EQ. My guess is that right there. Take the RCAs from your iPod out of the EQ and see if it stops. rival904
So I bypassed the EQ(my HU is in for repair right now sooo), and the engine noise stops completely. If I unplug my Ipod, and have the RCA's just hanging out of my dash, theres engine noise, but as soon as I plug something in, engine noise is gone. Now, should I RMA my EQ, or do you guys not think the EQ is at fault? lilmijo651
try moving the ground for the eq
rival904
Ive tried 2 diff grounds for the EQ. I should add that with the ipod into the amps, theres no engine noise, if I put the stinger ground loop isloator inline with the ipod, engine noise is back. Yes, hopefully will have my headunit back in a week or so. MrSkippyJ
Do you by chance have your iPod plugged into a power supply when trying this? qu1cks1lver56
do you have access to another eq to pop in there and try? sounds like the eq may be the problem, but wont know for sure till you put a headunit in there. thats my guess anyways.
