Batts for cold weather climates?

Recommended Posts

Well, i am lookin at batts now. But i have no idea which ones do well in cold areas. I live around Chicago, it gets cold here, yesterday on my way to work it was 0 deg. out. It took my car almost the whole ride to warm up lol. And im going to be running a system with a good amount of power IMO, 2-3k to bass, and 400 (100x4) RMS to my mids and highs. Im predicting a good amount of current draw, and ill need an alt and some batts. But what to go with? All the batts in the world will do me no good if they dont work in the cold. And its not usually this cold i dont think, i think today is gunna get up to 15, lol.

woman..cant live with em...cant shoot em...guess were all fucked

You might be a Redneck if you use your leftover gutters for a speaker box port...

This works for till i get the blown amp fixed] Alpine 4ch salvaged from blazer (currently near death)9887 peerless 7s in the doors and CDT tweeters ran active no speakers in the rearKintik HC1400 under the hood.metered once a while ago, dont remember it...was piss poor compared to the blazer, mid 130s i think....looking to replace subs and amp when i have money.

alts like the cold, so its kind of a trade-off (batts always have less current because the reaction is less energetic in cold, and they peak somewhere between 100-140f. alts, as they get colder, experience less resistance and therefore more output for a longer time (and your voltage may jump .1-.2).

get a really good alt and dont pinch pennies on it, its going to be expensive.

AGMbatteries apparently dont handle the cold as well. Personally when my car had just an hc1400 in it, it survived an entire oswego winter, often without being driven for weeks on end, so I'm pretty confident any good AGM should work fine. If you cant bring yourself to trust an AGM, get an optima (which apparently tolerate the cold better)and run a good AGM in the back.

monster/rockford/kicker/stinger cables, pioneer source, jbl highs/amps, kinetik/shuriken batts, iraggi alt, dei security, dc subs(atleast for now)
