6 and 8 volt batteries

wanted to know if if anybody out there has tryed this

i want to seires a 6 volt and 8 volt battery to make a 14 volt herd it will rest at around 15

my amps cut out out on 16 systems planning on useing trojen golf cart batteries if this works

let me know if anyone has done this

no i havent done it, but in theory that should work them Europeans do something close but use a lot of 2 and 4 volt cells

I did that when I built the system the first time. Worked great but you will need to up the voltage of your alternator to overcome the internal resistance in the batteries. I had 2 6 volt and 2 8 volt batteries wired for 14 volts, it rested around 14.6 ish but they were not always fully charged cause I used to pound on it all the time. I got the batteries from a buddy that had a golf cart repair shop.

I was told to charge at 16.5volts but my amps wont take over 16 so I set it up to charge at around 15.5 and it worked pretty well. Some alternators you can just add resistors to one of the wires in the harness to up the voltage output, do some research and you may find that it is a cheap upgrade.

amps only take up to 15.3

i do have 2 extunaly reg alts that can go up to 20 volt

would it hurt the batteries only charging to 15.3
