kickerfanatic Posted December 14, 2009 Report Share Posted December 14, 2009 o.k i have a 10'' orion hcca 10.4 sub wired to 2 ohms.. it is being powered right now by a zapco 1100.1 amp. need some help and ideas.. first i would like to know if the zapco amp would be good enough to push the orion to its max and make it sound its best.. or do i need more power...? second thing i need help with is coming up with some designs to make a box for this lil beast.. i want to go ported 100% so keep this in mind.. i have this system in a 1987 delta 88 royale. the trunk is kinda brolic if you no what i mean but i dont want to take up all the space.. thats why i got her this single 10'' orion hcca. loud for very lil space. but i have it in a ported box right now that was for a 12'' sub but i just made a new faceplate for the box and turned it into a 10'' box.. dont get me wrong it sounds good but i want to build a custom box and make it sound its best if i could.. here are some pics.. i want to keep the sub box under the 6x9s on the rear deck.. in other words it has to be as long as the trunk but only about 10-12'' deep. max.. any help would be greatly appericated.. sorry but they are celel phone pics..lol 4 15'' kicker L7 subs ( only 2 being used right now ) 1 kicker zx2500.1 ( another soon 2 come ) box is 9.5 cubic feet slot portd thur the back seat 1 kicker zx650.4 amp powering 4 10'' ev dl10x mids ( rear deck ) 1 kicker zx350.4 power 4 8'' beyma 8mi100 mid/highs ( 1 on each door ) 2 runs of zero gauge wire ( about 60 feet total. ) big 3 done in zero gauge kicker wire 3 runs of 4 gauge for voice amps and eq' and crossover 2 kinetik hc1800 batteries in the trunk and 1 optima yellow top under the hood 260 amp irragi high output alternator ( soon to be 2 alt's ) alpine cda 9856 ipod headunit kicker kx3 3 way crossover & a old school alpine 3342 digital 11 band sound field processor eq. Reaper Posted December 15, 2009 Report Share Posted December 15, 2009 the only thing i can sudjest if your using that amp your going to be underpowering it a bit. i`v seen people running music on up to 3000 rms. but that said you can just make a little bit bigger. i can send you the info orion sent me. they recommend 800-1500 watts at a 1.78 ported box now the design would be up to you but they have specs so if you want that sheet i can get it for you. dugee81 Posted December 18, 2009 Report Share Posted December 18, 2009 does the 2500d run 2500 @ 2ohms or 1? that would make the orion waaay happier either way. 27.5" x 16" x 16" the port is 5.25" x 5" and 14.5" deep, tuned to 38hz 200a alt. by Excessive Amperage hc800 under hood & 2 Deka 9a31 in rear 1/0awg + big 3 SAZ 3000D HDC3 18" @ 2 ohm Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Reaper Posted December 19, 2009 Report Share Posted December 19, 2009 i`ll get you my pics of the one i built for my single its the same specs minus i made the port tuned to 33 hz. and the 2500d pulls 2500 at 1 ohm at 13.8 if memory serves me and 1700 at 2 ohm i think. its unregulated so it makes it better than the new 5000d because the 5000d is regulated to 2500 at 1 ohm. but regardless it`ll push harder than that zapco even tho that zapco is a sick amp. just more power than the 1100.1 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
