rise?

can someone tell me how to figure this out, ok i have 2 dvc 2ohm subs and a 1 ohm stable amp it's wired at 2 ohms currently but i'm wondering if i wired it at .05 ohm if it would kill my amp or would rise play a factor to where i would be ok? sorry if this is a noob question or if its been posted before.

my current boxes are sealed per specs but i will be building a vented enclosure here soon.

Some amps are stable down to .5 ohms you could find one of those. Or you could try it and go easy on the gain and bass boost and hope for the best. I setup my friends jl 500/1 to .5 ohms on 2 dual 2 ohm woofers and set the gain pretty low and he hasnt had a problem and its been about 4 months.

Some amps can handle .5 but not sure about the T5002... Your rise will most likely be above 1 ohm so you should be fine but its always at your own risk running less than stable ohm loads. If you do it do like Jared said, go easy on the gain and absolutely NO bass boost

does it matter if its sealed or vented? my amp is the rf t5002 doesn't say its .05 stable.

i'm not planning on running out and blowing my amp i was just curious if it could be done is all. I'm gonna buy a new amp and subs as soon as i can anyways, looking at DC or AA but not set on that yet. and amp most likely fosgate. thanks for the imput though guys i appreciate it.

Not positive but sealed vs vented probably has an impact on impedance rise... Dont have experience with the 5002 but like said before do it at your own risk and don't be surprised if it blows

If you wanna figure box rise, you have to measure it.

Box rise is extremely variable.

It will be different in every box, be different with every sub, and even change at various power levels and atmospheric conditions.

It will even change when you roll down your windows.

gotcha so instead of trying to wire my amp lower than it can handle i will get a better amp with more power and wire it accordingly. thanks again guys.

that is a good idea but your going in a good direction asking this question. i recomend you go with this idea just for a learning aspect. go out and but a cheap clamp meter and find how to figure out impedence. it will come in handy in the future and make you that much smarter about installing a system.

I would never wire my amp to .05!!

but if you figure out box rise you can gain a lot!
