Toady Posted January 1, 2010 Report Posted January 1, 2010 x2, wtf?! heat up the terminal not the wiring itself, push the solder on the back of the terminal and let it flow down and puddle up, then once its filled let it cool down Same Technique I Use, I have never had that outcome

mwerling1212 Posted January 1, 2010 Report Posted January 1, 2010 another thing i do that i think helps is after i let it pool up on the top, i continue to heat it until i see it soak in, then repeat until its full. i also use a clamp to crimp it a little before hand. i had trouble with melting the jacket also, but i think it was because i was using a huge torch, not like the little one in the video.

enemyofsilence Posted January 1, 2010 Author Report Posted January 1, 2010 i am trying a different solder now cause i think the one i used the first time wasnt rosin core solder.. maybe there was my mistake... i got some 60/40 rosin core leaded solder now and hopefully it will work. Team Bass-Hz

berniebp87 Posted January 1, 2010 Report Posted January 1, 2010 First of all, use a small flame. I heat up the back of the ring terminal first so the solder runs down into the wire and "soakes" the threads and then wait until it cools down a bit and then use the flame to melt the solder into the ringterminal (without getting the solder that is allready cooled down to melt again) to make it look good.
