The absolute best way to seal a port imo is to glue it to the box with some 5 min epoxy. Good luck ever getting the thing out though. I would just use some liquid nails or even good old silicone.

As far as how far to keep your ports from the rear of the car I'd say at least 4" minimum. I only have my 8" flared port for my spl box about that far away from the side wall of my car and it performs great.

I may have to mount the ports half in and half out the box to get 4". They are right on the back of the hatch.

Its sounds better then i expected. Considering its tuned to 43hz.

I don't reccomend mounting them like that unless it's your last resort. I would move whatever is in front of the box to get that room cause I think it will help you quite a bit. If you mount part of the port in the box which is fine it will throw off your internal volume of the enclosure and will also affect the tuning of the box. I would try my best to push it foward an inch or two more. You could probablyl get away with 3" of space, but it may not do as good as it would if you had 4" or more.

Also whatever that piece of wood is in front of your box needs to go anyway. That is going to fuck up your spl no matter what and needs to be removed right away.

Thats where the amp is mounted. I could remove it. I'll get like 2" doing that but then I would have to put the amp on the back of the box. I have the amps and batterys in front of the box. I wanted to keep the hatch as empty as possible. I'm about to put the seals and the spoiler on. Then i'll take the car up to the shop to do some burps. to see where i'm at now.

if they are uncut there is a huge problem right there. They need to be much shorter than that and by the looks of your peak you have the box tuned too low. What are the external dimensions of the box too and I'll double check internal volume for you.

3. if the ports are that long I'd cut them down to 14.5" from flare to flare and that shoudl raise the tuning to 47hz in the box if it's got 6 cubes internally. that should help your score quite a bit in itself.

4. if you want to drive up to Greensboro I'd be glad to help you tune for a day or even build a new box to play around with. I have some 8" sonotube that we could use to make you some 8" flared ports with and I'm thinking 2 of them in a 6 cube box tuned to 46hz so each port would need to be 16.5" from flare to flare. That would be your best bet and if you want to do it we can.

I have the sonotube if you get the fiberglass resin, mat, and bondo we can make you some flares that will kick ass and send your score through the roof of that MX3.

Yea the ports are uncut,And the outside dims are 39H x 20D x17.25H (double baffle). I'll remove the board today and move the box forward then try it again. I still have 2 holes I have to fill. Hopefully I'll pick a fews tenth doing that. I Tuned to 43hz think the box would peak higher. but its peaking where its tuned at. I'll try a few things few then I'll take you up on your offer. I have lots of resin and filler. A guy sold me 5 gallon of resin and harder for 100 buck. And I still have a gallon of filler I haven't even open yet.

How would tunning that high effect my ability to play music. I don't want a fart box. I'll be doing Street Beatz this year to. You can only play music with them. So I need a setup that can do both. I would like to brup over 150's and play music in the high 140's

Maybe it's too much port area for your car idk. Rignt now that is 15sqin per cuft but I would think would be fine for spl, not music so much though.

If you cut the ports down it's not going to play music that great at all. You may have to go the route that I did and have two different boxes, one for each application.

It plays music very well. But anyway I removed the board and move the box forward about 2-3" . I also think one of the subs was unhooked. It could of been from when i pull it out the box but I really don't think so. I got a few things to do. then i'll check some numbers. I'll so try plugging 1 of the ports and see what I come up with. I will post in a few hours.
