Alright im tryin to go to my first competition in mid febuary so im trying to upgrade my whole system. so i have to ask a few ?'s to you competition pros and anybody who can help me. Right now my system is 4 12" subs a prefab box and a RF 451s which ive been told is like 400+ at 2 ohms and a crappy prefab box. This is what i was thinking to try to run at the comp

1. Knu KLMX 1/0 wire( i have 4 gauge right now)

2. Audiopipe 3000D

3. 1 18" sub from ssackett or forevrbumpin if not them maybe an AQHDC3 18"(dont know if i need copper or aluminum coils?)

4. I need a bigger alt but i dont need what size to run the AP3000D(I was thinkin like a 110 or 120 Amps

5. I also need a battery or 2( planned on runnin stock front and have a big one in the trunk)

6. Box designers when i figure out what sub im getting( i will construct the box myself)

I need to spend as little as possible i mean im not tryin to spend $4k for my first comp lol

I also need to know if there is like a cd with nothing but different tones or hertz levels on it to use for the comp?

Also wandering if anybody knew what class i would be in?

Also any advice for my first comp or any setup suggestions?

1, yes get Knu wire, but get the Fleks Kable, its straight copper unlike the KLMX, which is 10% copper and 90% aluminum, which handles 50 less amps than the Fleks cable.

3, you dont need aluminum coils, thats for a buttload of power which you dont have.

4, high output doesnt mean 110-120. HO means 200-400+amps. get a 200-300amp alternator and you should be good.

5, get a sealed battery up front and 2 in the back, never too safe to be sorry. make sure the batteries are SEALED. you dont want a regular battery that will leak hydrogen gas and harm you.

You're asking questions with tons of right answers for each. Depends on your liking for equipment. I have heard subs I thought were shit that ended up blowing my mind, amps other than the best ones price shop, Alts are just a matter of quality and preference (none are cheap $) wire - read about strandcount and start pricing and never forget your BOX DESIGN AND QUALITY BUILD MEANS EVERYTHING!! Study some build logs there is so much shit out on this site you could learn everything from takin a shit to building a subwoofer box out of hemp.
