79 cutty
I know it isn't moving forward on the regal...but hey, progress is progress! Lol. Was able to get my little man's power wheels into paint this weekend. I didn't snap any pics of the two coats of sealer, or 2 coats of HOK orion silver because the haze from shooting it made the pics turn out terrible....but after 2 full coats, and 1 mist coat of HOK oriental blue here is the outcome: My one action shot: All buttoned up: And some shots of it in the sun: And my favorite shot: Firm believer in letting my cars do my talking! You can't rush quality, it doesn't happen overnight. Quality takes time and dedication, but the end results more than pay for it. 79 cutty
Well I know it is off topic, but at this point I continue to be pulled away from working on my regal to finish my son's birthday gift....so my viewpoint is progress is progress! Was able to shoot the metallic sealer, followed by 2 coats of HOK Orion Silver: Then the fun really starts. The beginning of taping off patterns: From there it was onto shooting the HOK Kandy Oriental Blue (3 coats and 1 mist coat): Then it was onto the unmasking: Next will be shooting some more patterns. Either a gunmetal, or dark silver color for accents, as well as some more blue with very heavy royal blue flake in it! Then clear, buff and assemble! Firm believer in letting my cars do my talking! You can't rush quality, it doesn't happen overnight. Quality takes time and dedication, but the end results more than pay for it. 79 cutty
Taping off the silver to do the fades Finished fades: Then it was on to taping off the hood for the "fingerprint patterns:" Shooting the gunmetal grey on the fingerprint patterns: Next stage was taping off for the heavy flake: Close up of flake: Finished flake: Then we shot candy blue over the hood patterns: After that it was shooting clear: From there it was a long boring day of color sanding, and buffing.....but the "semi" finished product more than makes up for the boredom! I didn't realize I never posted the finsihed up powerwheels. Here is the final steps of the process: Firm believer in letting my cars do my talking! 79 cutty
"stitching" on the seats to tie to blue into the interior: On to the final cleaning of the parts before assembly. Making sure no leftover buffing compounds were in any of the little cracks and such: Let the assembly begin: The hidden wiring. Everything was crimped, soldered, and covered with heat shrink: The finished interior: The finished dash with the polished aluminum trim ring and everything in place: The finished rear portion of the ride with speakers and aluminum trim rings in place: And my personal favorite shot....the finished up front end (hood isn't clipped into place yet because the battery was still charging and not in yet) Sounds pretty dang good too! I will try to figure out how to post up a video one of these days! Lol Firm believer in letting my cars do my talking! You can't rush quality, it doesn't happen overnight. 79 cutty
Well this past weekend was finally time to give the little man his finished "ride." But before he started putting it through the ringer I figured I would snap some pics of it in the sunlight: Little man wanted me to take a pic of it with "daddy's car" Probably the best pic I was able to grab of the flake: And I didn't really add this detail through the log, but I also put some LED's in his footwell to light it up a little...and here is the result: Firm believer in letting my cars do my talking! 79 cutty
Well I know it has been forever and a day since updates were posted...but most of my free time was spent working on this for the little man's 3rd birthday: http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/151615-2012-cadillac-escalade-ext-start-to-finish/ Anyways, with winter fast approaching I have a couple things in the works to actually get back to making some progress on this beast. Pics of that to follow. But I was able to get this small piece of the puzzle: Tony whipped up a fuse panel that takes my "constant power" fuse block which would drain the battery while the car is off, and turns it into a switched power fuse block so it only turns the accessories on when the car turns on. Will also literally make wiring all the accessories pretty much "plug-and-play." So the video screens, video amplifier, and Ipad charging station will all just have to be wired to the fuse block. Firm believer in letting my cars do my talking! You can't rush quality, it doesn't happen overnight. Quality takes time and dedication, but the end results more than pay for it.
