I know Fi does not give a sealed enclosure figure for the BTL or BL, what would happen if you put them in a sealed box? I was just woundering. Thanks in advance... Neel Posted January 21, 2010 Report Posted January 21, 2010 There is a general rule of thumb when determining if a driver will work in a sealed / ported enclosure, or both! The formula is the Fs of the driver divided by the Qes of the driver. So Fs / Qes will either give you a number less then 50, between 50 and 100, or over 100. If the number is below 50, the driver will work best in a sealed enclosure. If the number is between 50 and 100, the driver will work both in a sealed or ported enclosure If the number is above 100, the driver will work best in a ported enclosure So, lets do some basic math. 12" BTL D1 Fs= 39.3hz Qes= .21 39.3 / .21 = 187.14 15" BTL D1 Fs= 35.6hz Qes= .24 35.6 / .24 = 148.33 18" BTL D1 Fs= 31.9hz Qes= .26 31.9 / .26 = 122.69 None of the drivers fall between that 50-100 range, leaving the BTL best suited for a ported enclosure. However I am curious to see how a BTL sealed in various sized enclosures would plot in winISD, maybe I will post again later with results. Too Much Stuff to list .
