kanes_disciple Posted January 26, 2010 Report Share Posted January 26, 2010 I currently have factory wiring and the factory alt in my blazer and I am gonna be running 2000 watts at 2 ohm's to 4 subs and a 500 watt mids/highs amp. I already have the big three wires in 0 gauge to upgrade, I am gonna get a 0 gauge wiring kit and I currently have a kinetic hc600, but I will get a bigger battery if I need to. Now I called a local battery shop today and the man told me he can take my alt from 105 amps to 160 amps for $160. So my question is first off is that a good deal and second off will I even need to upgrade the alt since I am gonna upgrade all my wiring? The factory puts in an alternator big enough to handle the charging needs of the car only not enough for any aftermarket stereo systems. Upgrading your wiring and adding a second battery is a good start, but to get the most out of your setup you will need a High Output alternator. Go over to the Iraggi Alternator thread and ask Dominick about getting an alternator and pricing he will take care of you. He does quality work. skittlesRgood Posted January 26, 2010 Report Share Posted January 26, 2010 yes, upgrade that alt. the big 3 helps but not THAT much. i think you need closer to a 200amp alt. you could go with that 160amp but i would add 2 bigger batts, like 2 group 31s in the back. look at DC alts. they do the best work. iraggi used to suck but they have stepped up lately.
