audiofanaticz
There is no such thing! Its all user preference and what the user wants to accomplish. 37ish hz is a well around number, in a good box with good drivers. You will still hit the low notes, and most the highs as well as have a pretty flat response in a correctly built box.
HHR Ed
there is no ideal. audiofanaticz
35!can you still hit low!like in the high 20's? Hell no! Anything below 30hz will be very hard on the woofer. You should adjust your Sub Sonic Filter ruffly 5hz below box tuning. If you want to play 20hz tune low. My box is peaking at 31-32 hz (peaking meaning my loudest db number on a termlab at said freq). My box is tuned to around 27ish. My woofers tend to struggle a little bit around 22hz.
cqtama
why do you want to play so low?it all personal preference but how many songs play that low? k3n12ock
HHR Ed is right. My box is tuned to 32hz and I like it. I want it to about 36hz now though. Blackedout
there is no ideal. It depends on your listening tastes, your vehicle, and other environmental conditions such as power level, interior material etc... This is where its at. It's all about testing and trying different enclosures/ subwoofers/ sizes until you get the sound that suites your needs. That being said, I think a box tuned to 33 hertz is a good starting point, but that's me. Quote Trunk Build Log
