What if it connects through an Ipod jack. Like your comp does and you can scroll the music on the CD player it self. Is this still something to worry about. It doesn't matter what my Ipod volume is at, it is controlled by the CD player. I never thought of this even being a problem.

i dont believe you have to worry about clipping in this situation

but no matter what keep the eq off

Do all Ipods have an eq? I have an 8gb nano.

yes they do, keep it off though. i put my ipod nano 1st gen on an oscope with a 50hz tone playing, i found out that it clips at like 98% volume but very slightly

Well i'm sure my teacher has an oscope at school, but how would go about oscoping the ipod? i'd put the 50hz tone on it, but what would i connect to what? I could use the oscope for everything, but to do that effectively i'd need to scope my HU, which i'm not prepared to do right now in my car because of what i have to do to get the HU out. So could i just scope the the ipod by itself?

i cut a BNC cable up and attached an RCA Male end to it so its now a BNC to RCA cable, then i put an rca to 3.5mm adapter on the RCA Male then put it to ipod, simple as that.

you need to oscope the headunit also if you dont want it to clip

Had one once. Then I realized I missed My iPod so I sold it to a buddy and bought a 120gig iPod never been happier. Plus I like how I don't have to bring in my iPod to charge it and can scroll my music on my CD player verses picking up the zune and searching on that, the direct iPod controls just make it easier.

I know for a fact that the 30 gig iPod will clip at 100% volume when it is set to flat, when its comming out of the head phone jack. I've got 20,50 and 80 hertz at 256 recorded on mine.

In a thread on here when useing the iPod with an Alpine head unit that if the EQ is on it is transfered through the iPod/Alpine cable to the head unit.
