mwerling1212
I got curious and wanted too check out the ohm reading on my sub, so i just disconnected the speaker cable from my amp, then put the probes of my dmm on the the positive and negative cables. The dmm says its wired to 1.8-2.0 ohms. Is this normal? or by some mistake do i have a d4 ohm sub? I have a SS RL-p 18 d2, wired in parallel to my sundown saz1000d. thanks! joni13
box rise......... to get a proper reading take the subs out and check also it might move up or down cuz even the slightest movement or vibration can cause the impedance to rise Quote RIP The 03 prix! mwerling1212
maybe im missing something but how would the box affect anything if its not playing? im taking the speaker cable out of the amp, then touching the probes to the pos and neg. bkolfo4
How many times do we have to go over a DMM measures DC resistance, not impedance!!! And box/impedance rise has nothing to do with what you are reading with a DMM!! Measure each coil right at the sub and see what you get. mwerling1212
ok i took it out and it reads 3.0 on each coil. i guess its in between a d2 and d4. lol or maybe my dmm is bad.
mwerling1212
i was also wondering how i can better fit the cable into the terminals on the sub. since i am wiring it in parallel, i have to put 2 positive cables in one positive terminal, and the same for the negative. is it ok to shave some wire off to make it fit? bkolfo4
If you touch the leads together on the DMM, what does it read?? mwerling1212
it reads 0. when i touch them. i went ahead and took the sub out and just rewired it just to be sure everything was solid, and put in some more bracing. but i did manage to put a small dent in the aluminum cone of my sub.
