I've never done it on my own systems, but I have done it for other people. Just hook up 1 amp to 1 coil, and another amp to the other coil. Or well that's how I did it, and they never ran into a problem.

well, what if I was connecting the sub to two different amplifiers which had different rms.. For example a amp that was 600 watts rms and another that was 400 watts rms...? Could I just connect them both to the same voice coil? Thanx!

uhhh, no, you really dont wanna do that unless you are trying to damage equipment.

Amps have to be identical and gains have to be carefully matched.

no, use two identical amps and match the gains or you'll run into trouble...an easy way to do it for novices is to pick up two hifonics amps and use the maxxlink

You need to make sure you have identical amount of amps per coils and make sure that they are all putting out the same amount of voltage to each coil.

With the amps that are out these days there really isn't much reason to need 2 amps per subwoofer unless you need a very very large amount of power.
