I was looking into getting a SPL tester so I could finally meter my car just for fun and proof. So naturally I looked into term lab and it was like $400?????

I dont have that much money and I was wondering if anyone knows where I could find one for less than $100 thats still fairly accurate :)

I hope its not unrealistic :give_rose:

If that one you found for $400 came with everything that's a good deal. A basic term lab with everything you need directly from tempro is $649. If you only want a $100 one, you can go to radioshack and get one, but don't expect it to be accurate at all. Get what you pay for, and that rule of thumb greatly applies here.

It will work if you want to compare between your freinds, but it will in no way be recognized as an official score.

I have not seen any cheap meters that read above 139dB. Any I did see that read around that point were still around $100. I would not waste my money on one of those and just get a termlab if you are serious. After shipping it will run you $700 :P

true that guys. It looks like I'll just have to save up. I too am only finding meters that read up to like 130max.... not that great especially if I'm gonna be upgrading soon.

Thanks for your help guys!

btw, I was googling this and came across this -->"ECM8000 mic and UB-802 mixer from Behringer."

apparantly people are using this a as a setup to measure spl? anyone have experience with this setup or is it garbage? lol
