janome
car: 07 camry system: brutus 1210d amp knu 4gauge kit alpine cde 105 h/u big old ported box made to specs 2 type argh's 4ohms paralleled to 1ohm Took my time on the install, could only afford an hour or so a day for about 5 days (by my lonesome) to get it together. Worked out great though cause I could plan what I would do the next day and get everything in proper. Got it ready and set to go yesterday. Ran it today and last night at 17/35 volume, bass boost 2/7 on h/u, ~3db bass boost on amp, gain set to 5/8ths or so. Only worry is after I run it for about 30 minutes the amp gets warm and today I smelled some funk from my ports. Did I muck it up? Is this normal? Just worried cause I plunked down a lot of cash/effort into doing this right, don't wanna mess it up. Lemme know what I should do guise. If you need pics/vids of specifics lemme know. If you need pics/vids of specifics lemme know. well if those are type r 12's they are only rated for 750 watts and if you are running that brutis at 1ohm you are feeding 1200 watts to them ...amp warming is normal its only a problem if it goes into protect ...but if you are running clean power to that amp i doubt it but it is possible you are peaking above 1200 watts ...either way you need to break those subs in but you are running in my opinion to much power to those type r's Quote On 4/20/2010 at 10:06 PM, 'cc_audio' said: Guys are just like girls, once you've had 18 inches you don't go back. 2004 GMC Yukon XL Pioneer AVH-X4700BS 13 band EQ Sub Amp- (2) PPI 5000BD.1 (2) Re SXX 15's 8 cu. ft. box tuned to 32 Hz (4) 6.5 Bose Mids (2) 1" Bose Tweets (2) 1.5" Bose Tweets (1) JY 80 AH w/ new JY busses (1) Duracell 750 up front Apex Alternators 270 A.C. It's impossible to tell without scoping and multimetering it. I have everything turned fairly low to be safe. By the way, type r 12's are rated for 500 rms/1500w peak ea. Two of them would be 1000w rms/3000w peak unless I'm wrong about the electrical math. http://cgi.ebay.com/2-ALPINE-SWR-1242D-12-SUBWOOFERS-TYPE-R-NEW-SUB-WOOFERS_W0QQitemZ290401340434QQcmdZViewItemQQptZCar_Subwoofers_Enclosures?hash=item439d44cc12 The power itself should be "clean" as I can get with stock electrical. Running about 15' of knu 4gauge from batt to amp, crimped. 2' ground to body (yes I sanded the paint off lol). Without clamping it it's impossible to know, but the rule of thumb for hifonics is 80% of advertised rms, 100% if your electrical is really good. 960w rms should be perfect. I played with em a little last night and I got /very little/ headlight dimming so I think my electrical is doing alright. Idk. I'm just going to ease into bring them to full power of the course of the next couple of months. My only concern now is the smell. ??? I could only really smell it if I smelt the ports but idk. cqtama
well hes not over powering them, i dont know where you get that from those type r's should be just fine on that amp. you could be clipping them. howd you set your gains? turn bass bost off and set you eq's to flat. then o-scope everything to make sure its not clipped. hows your voltage?
