Gutta Trash
I am trying to get out of buying a second alternator or possibly h/o alternator so I was wondering if I put a second battery in the back and then ran power line from first battery then to a cap and then to the battery would it properly charge the battery and take the strain off of the electrical system , I will be pushing approx 2500 watts but I am trying to get some good clean power Quote On 4/20/2010 at 10:06 PM, 'cc_audio' said: Guys are just like girls, once you've had 18 inches you don't go back. 2004 GMC Yukon XL Pioneer AVH-X4700BS 13 band EQ Sub Amp- (2) PPI 5000BD.1 (2) Re SXX 15's 8 cu. ft. box tuned to 32 Hz (4) 6.5 Bose Mids (2) 1" Bose Tweets (2) 1.5" Bose Tweets (1) JY 80 AH w/ new JY busses (1) Duracell 750 up front Apex Alternators 270 A.C. TeejayBee
I would throw the cap in the trash to be honest and just run a second battery and get the biggest one you can afford. I was just running 2.5k off stock alt and stock battery and was clean but now im going to be running 4-5k in the next month im getting three new batteries
Chode69
h/o alt, biggest bat in the back you can add...(after replacing the front w the biggest you can get), big 3 upgrade, and ditch the cap all together Quote NoFearX18 said: Nick will bang just about anything.....LMAO....pun intended On 4/13/2010 at 9:51 AM, meade916 said: i was like DAMN, Chode is hardcore! he makes james look like a friendly person LOL! trainman0978 said: I dont know who is worse with the buttholes Chode or Big P... TeejayBee
Even if the alt isnt a h,o alt look for a factory alt that puts out more amps then your stock like im prolly buying a 160amp alot for my blazer after i get my batteries and dont look for a ca battery look for Ah http://www.remybattery.com/Products/Deka-Intimidator-Battery---9A31__9A31.aspx im buying two of those and a smaller one for up front. will be under 600$ for all three
J00bles
chode said it best. 1. upgrade your alternator FIRST 2. do your "big 3" upgrade 3. Replace the underhood battery with an AGM or GEL battery with a high A/H rating on it(cranking and cold cranking mean nothing to us right now) 4. do atleast 1 run of 1/0 from front to rear 5. add atleast 1 more HUGE (100+A/H) battery in the rear for amplifier support. you DID ask a dumb question. you WILL NOT get "clean" power from your stock alt and stock battery when running 2.5k watts. HAHA. do not listen to everybody who says to do it anyways. theres a difference between doing it and doing it right. Gutta Trash
First off, unless im retarded and missed it, shouldnt we find out what vehicle he has and what that vehicles alternator is? My Trailblazer has a 150 amp stocker... And just changing the Big 3 would be enough for what hes doing... Not everyone in car audio needs a HO Alternator... umm yeah....stock alt is 55 amp Quote On 4/20/2010 at 10:06 PM, 'cc_audio' said: Guys are just like girls, once you've had 18 inches you don't go back. 2004 GMC Yukon XL Pioneer AVH-X4700BS 13 band EQ Sub Amp- (2) PPI 5000BD.1 (2) Re SXX 15's 8 cu. ft. box tuned to 32 Hz (4) 6.5 Bose Mids (2) 1" Bose Tweets (2) 1.5" Bose Tweets (1) JY 80 AH w/ new JY busses (1) Duracell 750 up front Apex Alternators 270 A.C.
