csills
ok as i was looking at the coil and puting my ear to each side of the spider i "think" i found the problem but im not really sure, there is a small air leak where the glue and the spider is connected to the basket, i cant exactlly find the air leak but i can hear it as i was pushing up and down and listening for mechanical problems, i didnt hear a thing except this little air leak, could that be the problem? have you ever heard this before? 2 JL W7's @ 1.5ohms - SOLD Soundstream PCX2000D - SOLD Yellow top Optima - SOLD Stock Alt 148db @ 36hz

wL<3bass
The sub could be "Broken" and not be blown. If you didn't smell any smoke, you probably didn't burn up the coil. Like its already been said, it could be a number of things such as a poor recone job (coil out of alignment), damage from shipping (shifted magnet) or maybe even debris in the gap. Just because the coil reads ok, doesn't mean there is not other problems with it. But we cannot effectively diagnose it here. It needs to be looked at unfortunately. This right here is what I have trying to explain. Beanz
well what kind of amp is this? That's why they don't deliver. Yer ass better go sit along the side of the road and wait. You can't expect them to travel up some dirt road in a hick / back woods town. Thats how horror movies start I explain things very simply and use analogies in terms of Pickles, and grape drink, pool noodles and jackhammers...if you can't put 2 and 2 together there man, There simply is not much more I can do. midnite_bump
I've never really been a fan of JL. I say if you are gonna spend that much money why not go with something that's better for less....Fi, DC, AA, Sundown. Something that works properly and can handle some serious power. 1993 Jeep Cherokee Sport Kenwood 5.25" Mids Alpine SPS-500 5.25" Mids 4 awg Rockford Fosgate wiring kit Rockford Fosgate P312D2 Phoenix Gold Tantrum 1200.1 Phoenix Gold Tantrum 600.4 Pioneer DEH-3100UB HU
csills
jl said they will fix both of them because the other was doing the same thing free at no charge, but if they see that i abused it (i haven't) i will be charged for both of them , i dont know what they mean abused all i did was hooked up both of them when i got my other one in, and they both distorted, took it it to local audio shop, they said its blown but it still plays, just doesnt play great at high volumes. 2 JL W7's @ 1.5ohms - SOLD Soundstream PCX2000D - SOLD Yellow top Optima - SOLD Stock Alt 148db @ 36hz
