It's not just about cone area. It's a plethora of things. IE xmax, rms, box, the car etc etc they all play a part. As its been said numerous of times and and many more times to come..test test test. Yes, two 15s means more cone area, but it doesn't mean it will be 'louder' or better.

If it was just about cone area, people wouldn't be hitting 160s up with one sub. It's all in what your own preference is.

Back on topic though, say if you are looking at Kicker L7s, then I would choose two 15's, but if you're looking at two Pyle 15's vs 3 T3 T2000 12s..I'd choose the 12s lol.

This is so ignorant!

Why is that?

I've always heard that a smaller sub will have a tighter sound due to less moving mass. Is that a load of bull?

its absolutely not true. 18's arent "sloppy" and 12's arent "tight". what makes a woofer sound great 99% of the time is the box that its in. hard to explain cause im TRBL at explaining stuff.

do both!

i kid i kid.

2 15's is more cone area so technically it should be louder.

But the 3 12's might have a tighter sound.

Edit: on equal power. ^_^

Wrong. You can make a 18 sound just as "tight" as a 10. Its all in the box and install.

30 cubes? 8 15's ;)

You should read better next time. He said 30 cubes was the area left in the cab (don't know why).

But to the OP, I would go with 2 15's

edit...but not those 15's I didn't see that you posted that.

9 cubes and 3k watts, 2 Fi Q 15's would shine in that.

Edited by EricR

i was thinking leave the 12 sitting in the box in the hole and duck tape from the bottom of the sub to the bottom of the baffle so the sub doesnt free air. would that work?

so 2 15's on 1200 watts or 3 12's on 3krms???

I'd do 8's

like 12 of them on 3krms
