Screw Local Shops

i could add my local stores to that list. like was mentioned earlier, my local sells a couple different brands, and there is nothing better than what they have. all these guys know is mainstream audio... kicker, RF, JL, Sony, Pioneer, Kenwood, etc... not that there is anything wrong with those brands, but if u ever ask for anything else, they either have no clue, or talk shit about it. If I ever have the $$$$, I would open a real shop that keeps up with the times!

Also my local shop used to talk sh*t about MTX (not nut huggin them) and alls they had is Kicker, RF, JL, Kenwood, Alpine etc. and now they sell MTX and act like they never talked sh*t about them haha what a joke.

2nd place... had the fuse.. had to steal a fuse holder out of a wiring kit.. i swear its not a 0awg input one.. but im gona make it work..

most workers at shops are just that, workers, not car audio nuts, and when they don't know small brands, it's because small brands don't bring people in. Now on the big three, that's really only a big deal to internet people, most people would never think to replace that. Also not that it even matters anymore, but the more internet buying we all do the less shows we will see. I am in the process of opening a shop, but i love car audio, and like to talk about it and all brands.

yeah i hate local shops."dr.trashboard"they try to make you feel like you don't know anything.then they try to bend you over with the prices.i won't buy anything local anymore.i wouldn't mind paying a few extra dollars for something.if the wouldn't treat you like sh*t.

x2 and thanks for making this thread I feel better now, haha I have only one shop within a 40mile radius of my house and they treat the customers like crap, and basically anything that is not JL Audio sucks to them... JL is nice stuff but it's not the only car audio on the market ... they don't even sell rockford fosgate ... DC... lol

See, what someone needs to do is start a website for people to report localshops of all cities/states locations of how dumb the employees are. The ultimate site to bash local car audio shops that know nothing

Where I used to live in Florida there's a shop whos "Owner" I personally have seen blow 4 amps in a row by wiring it wrong (used the same color wire for both + & -) on an install. So don't feel bad. I had to work for this guy. I quit because the reputation of his shop was hurting my reputation as an installer. Thats what happens to ALOT of shops. The talented guys that know what they're doing, get frustrated with the idiots that THINK they do. Then they end up leaving.

shops arent there for people like us that do crazy shit and have knowledge, they're there to install remote starts for your mom, kiss the asses of rich kids with their parents money and first car, and do basic installations. 99.9% of the time that is all a shop does. custom jobs, big installs, fiberglass, etc is that extra .1%. Don't be surprised if a shop isnt experienced in work like that, or is not familiar with the product offerings of the thousands of audio companies out there. I know my shop is up to 50,000 individual items in the product list, and thats 50,000 things to know the price of, appearance, specs, and model number of. oh, so you need a remote turn on and hi-lo? dei is part number 55000 and 55020, pac/peripheral is a pgli and a lvt (or ptr7), but jl, mtx, audiocontrol, and rockford all build it too! all have different features/prices/part numbers. Most employees never even learn about everything they stock, let alone the hundreds of thousands of products they dont.

Got to remember the best product to a local shop is what ever has profit in it... (jl or what ever they sell) I work at a retail store called American TV and Appliance where we carry Polk, MTX, Sony, Kenwood to name a few and everybody who works for american swears by these brands. In my car I have none of these hahahahaha. As far as knowledge in a local shop well, this is our hobby, passion so we take the time to research ask questions and buy according to what we come up with for our needs, to them (local shops) it's a job.
