Mosin Posted March 13, 2010 Report Posted March 13, 2010 Vehicle is a 95 Grand Am GT stock tire size is a 205/55R/16 and on discounttiredirect.com is says a 'plus zero' size would be 225/50ZR/16. I see it gets wider a bit but why does the profile of the tire go down? If I went with the 'plus zero' sizing it won't mess with the accuracy of my speedo would it? I'm looking into getting the Continental ExtremeContact DWS tire in either size whether it be the stock or plus zero. BTW there are nothing but good reviews for this tire on either site. http://www.discounttiredirect.com/direct/findTireDetail.do?v=013873|1995&pc=26852&ar=50&rd=16&cs=225 http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=Continental&tireModel=ExtremeContact+DWS&partnum=25WR6ECDWS&i1_Qty=1 Quote Derp.
somerandomguy Posted March 13, 2010 Report Posted March 13, 2010 they don't have these in my size... look good though. I'm wondering about the plus zero size too.. Quote
BeatBox Posted March 14, 2010 Report Posted March 14, 2010 (edited) Well i work at discount tire and I DONT even get the "plus zero" crap lol its has to do with changing tire size but still keeping it so that its the same as OE. If i go to our computer there will be few tires sizes that will come up for you car. With the size difference you prob would even tell the difference unless you put the tires side by side. It wont mess up your speedometer unless you go wayyyy smaller or wayyyy bigger. Even with the 24s on mine the speedometer is only 5 off but its a lot bigger than stock. around 3in taller than stock so going with something like yours that would be less than 1/2 an in. in difference wont cause any problems. As far as tire continentals are pretty soft tires, I personally like them. I say GO FOR IT! Edited March 14, 2010 by BeatBox Quote
