Few battery questions

alright so i was thinking about adding a second battery, as of now i have stock wiring, stock alt, and stock battery

heres my system info if needed

(2x)12" Orion Cobalts

800.1 mono Orion amp

8g going to batt from amp

8g ground

16g or 24g going to subs(idr)

alright, so would i need to do the big 3 inorder to upgrade to a second batt?

can i use a (using it for an example) XS batt for my primary?

do i need a better alt?

also wile im posting, how would i wire a 2nd amp( for door speakers)? would i hook another set of RCA's into the first amp to the second amp?

do i need to run another remote wire? or would i be able to split it betweet the 2

and should i run another power cable to the battery, or would i be able to hook it into the second battery?

wow questions. first off with only 800watts i wouldnt' worry about a second battery, i'd upgrade the front battery to something nice, and the answer is yes, you can use a xs power battery for the front.. i would say no to better alt right now, and yes i'd do big three but i'd do it in 1/0 guage, also you should run atleast 4 gauge wire to that amp, and make sure it's grounded nicely, not to some shitty rusted bolt under your seat

yeah figured id save some topics for later when i get some money, but appricate the feed back, the 0g is something ive been looking to do so ill hop to it , and how would i go about wiring that second amp?

when i did my big 3 i replaced all stock wiring with 4 gauge and it made a big difference. since then i have redid it with 0 gauge but i just ran it beside the 4 gauge. this was all done when i was running stock alt stock batt and a 1000 watt amp on two 12s. so i say try that first and see what you get. and yes you could use the xs as primary. although i suggest replacing the primary batt first. i replaced my stock batt with a kinetik hc2000 and now i hardly see a voltage drop.

as far as your remote if its just two amps splicing of the one should be fine. and running a fresh power wire from you battery should be good. if you add a second just go from it to the amp.

as far as rcas you could just run from one amp to the next however you wont have a fade control then. if you wanted that i recommend a 4 channel rca run from HU to amp for speakers that maintains your fade/balance control.

You don't *need* to do the big 3 to add another battery. It will help your alternator to perform it's job a little easier, but the 8ga is a bottleneck anyways.

Yea you can use an XS Power battery as your primary, but make sure your two batteries are the same type (aka don't mix flooded batteries with an AGM type battery.) If you're running a water cell battery right now it's going to charge differently than an AGM battery and eventually you could ruin both batteries.

You don't *need* a better alt but it can't hurt. With the power you're running you probably won't see a difference, and the 8ga is going to bottle neck you no matter what you do. Unless you upgrade to an amp with 1/0 or 4ga inputs I would say a stock alt will do you fine.

For the RCA's, you'll need to run 2 more sets of RCA's from your deck to your 4 channel amp. There should be 3 RCA outputs on your deck (hopefully) Front, Rear, and Sub. You'll run the Front and Rear to the inputs on a 4 channel amp.

For the remote wire, since you're only going to be running 2 amps you should be ok jumping the remote wire from your sub amp to your 4 channel. If you add more things in later you might need to add a Relay.

I'm assuming about the power cable you're asking if you can connect the 4 channel amp straight to the back battery. The answer is yes you can, you could also run your sub amp to the rear battery if you wanted to redo all the wiring.
