trying to figure out how to wire my sterio

Recommended Posts

you want to hook up door speakers directly to a 15" sub then connect the sub to an amp? and no one has told you this is a horrible idea yet? because its fucking retarded. or maybe i just dont understand wtf your saying.

I am holding off telling him that because I hope that we are just reading it wrong. I REALLY hope we are reading it wrong.

He wants to hook up his floorstanders in his room up to some random amp. but he wants 4 speakers on the two channel amp, and it needs to be above 8 ohms. so he can only go for 16, but he wants it lower so he can draw more power. The 15 idea was to lower the ohmage, but it would fail

You want to put 2 speakers on the left channel (16ohm) and 2 speakers on the right channel (16ohm) and then connect the right channel to one voice coil of the 15" sub and the left channel to the other voice coil of the 15" sub?

yes this is exactly what im trying to do and its a home sterio not a car sterio lol

I picked up an MTX Sw1212 powered subwoofer today. This thing sounds amazing. 130 watts, 12" woofer with a passive 12" woofer tuned to 27 hz. Moving the pictures on the walls and my girl got wet from the bass when i showed her haha. Tonight should be good haha.

i forget were i seen it but yesterday i was lookin at 4ch amps for my truck and one said you can run it in dual tri mode

2 mids n highs off front channel in stereo with a sub bridged and the same thing on rear but it has to be a 4ohm bridged load and has to be set to flat

i have never done this befor but has anyone tryed it yet?

i think this is what the dude is talkin bout

most 2ch amps can be ran tri mode with 2 mids n highs stereo with a 4ohm bridged load to a sub, i dont kno how good this will work but u will halfto have seperate xovers wired in line for it to work n i think its more for smaller setups tho

this is the amp i was talkin bout http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAudio/p_23084_Polk_Audio_PA_2004.aspx

but most of the amps ive seen can be ran in tri mode but halfto have seperate xovers for the speakers

i dunno but i wouldn't try it tho

edit: that emoticon should say 8 0 not a face
