Say the coils read 1.7DCR, I'd guess it would stay at an average of 2.5 ohms (most due to the power compression), sometimes close to Re, sometimes more than 3x that. Pushing a sub towards its limit also play a role in keeping the impedance rise low, as the coil travels outside the gap the counter electromotive force is reduced (the brake force the motor applies to the coil). The 16kD can easily break the 12kW mark at 2 ohms, so the idea of one of them pushing two subs wouldn't be bad. What's better... 1 ohm or 2? I've never been a fan of running amps at less than 1 ohm, but I've also never been a fan of running a 1 ohm stable amp at 2 ohms either... Given each circumstance is different, there is no universal answer to this question... But I'm interested to hear your thoughts in any case. 2R is better, more control over the sub...if you still have the power you want Got carbon fiber dust cap???

As the heat is the biggest enemy, we should always design for higher impedances whenever we can. This is possible with the 16kD as it can output a very high RMS voltage (before clipping), the the voltage pushes the current. Just as an example, the efficiency is largely dependent on the FETs RDSon (internal resistance). The higher the current flowing through them, more heat will be generated. THD levels will also be higher with lower impedances.
