Ok so my friend wants to do this crazy set up and doesn't even know how to do it lol. He described it as a 8", 10", 12", and 15" subwoofer in a box (all in different chambers of course) and he wants to make the 8" play the higher low notes (like 500Hz-300Hz?) and the 10" to play 300Hz-150Hz and the 12" to play 150Hz-50Hz and the 15" to play 50Hz-0Hz. Something like that. And he wants to know how the heck to set this up. I told him I'd ask the people at SMD to see what they would come up with. I was thinking he'd need a separate amp and equalizers but I'm really not sure. And let's go with a $5K budget. Hopefully I covered the bases lol. Let me know if I needed to give more info.

He'd need either four enclosures or one Four chambered enclosure. He would also need 4 amps (one per sub.) Electrical upgrades wouldn't be a bad idea depending on the amps

Yea i got most of that but is there something (preferably one machine) that can tell each sub to play what you want it to play?

The subs probably would need different amounts of power so I can't think of anything. Actually, maybe two four channel amps. Usually the first two channels have their own cross over and the third and fourth have a seperate crossover. You could wire the subs to different impedences (ohm loads) to achieve your rated power. It probably sounds really complicated but it's really not

lol I understand it but he wouldn't lol. He just wants all the subs moving differently.

With what he's wanting to do it would more like a 4way bass sub bass setup, may or may not do well on how well he makes the enclosure and powers them. He would be better served doing a setup of 15" subs and a 10" for midbass as thats really what he is after anyway.

kind of a dumb idea if you ask me. you can do something much simpler and get better results. is there a reason your friend wants to do this?
