12'' sub that can take 3k daily?

Recommended Posts

3k is too much for a LVL4 with LVL5 coil IMO

DC LVL4XL or DC LVL5 is what i would go with

you said it right when i was thinking it!

those would be one hell of a sub man i know that but im spending too much on the alt to go for that price. i wish i could but i want a warranty on the subs i get. im not buyin used for that kind of money and with the wattage im throwing at them. i do have to say i think the lms ultras are prolly the best subs made though. there are ones that can handle more power but those can slam like ive never seen. those smd AA subs are about as close as you can get to em i think.

I dont think they are used. I 'think' he was trying to get a setup of 4 12s but only got 3. If you could talk him down to around 600 for a pair it would be a good deal.

DC LVL 4XL is a LVL 4 with a LVL 5 coil

With different cooling, spiders, and motor... Sounds like a different sub to me

lol.. right.. considerin i plugged mine into the wall for around 45 seconds and it was barely warm.. that calculates to what around 4400 rms @60hz

i also put my level 4 with level 5 coil on my buddys xxv collossus and it lauged and soaked it up.. two hours of playing and it was hardly warm on the dust cap.. oh and that was with a half ripped spider...

Yea your talking 60hz, the lvl5 coil is a beast. I wasnt really referring to thermal failure as a concern, and also unless you hooked that up to 220 theres no way it was seeing 4400wrms. House breakers are 15amps/20amps for shops, so 110x15=1650wrms. Anyway that aside The LVL4XL has a much larger motor than a LVL4 and a much different spider package. Putting 3kw's on a LVL4 daily for music would end in mechanical failure. the LVL4 doesnt require alot of power to get moving

yup ed i forgot that too..

but hey you wanna play you gotta pay..

its like the triangle..

you can have loud and longevity but it wont be cheap..

you can have cheap and longevity but it wont be loud..

and you can have cheap and loud but wont have longevity (

lol if that makes sense

(edit: darkjustice is teh interwebz stalker)

i think i already boiled that down in my sig...

lol...

but anyways... back to op.... if you build / be smart... any of the subs mentioned should to the trick... DC, DD, Sundown, AQ, Orion...

subs will do what you tell it to do... you just gota know what your doing...

i agree with what was previously stated that 3k is rough on any sub... with that much power, heat will be an issue... but its not like your going to be listening to tones for 30 mins or whatever...

like they all said... build a box smaller then normal... set the gains correctly... keep your electrical up... and it should be all good...
