aleroking
i recently bought what was suppose to be a 240 amp alternator from a local manufacturing company. I put the new alt in and i have been seeing absolutely no improvement in voltage drop. I know my amps arent drawing over 200 amps. The only thing i can think of is this alt. deff isnt putting out anywhere near 240 amps? aleroking
yes i have the big three done with 1/0, along with a run of 1/0 to the back. Voltage was dropping all the way down to 10 volts depending what volume.. Team_DC-Derrick
was this at idle or were you revving the engine? and its probably not a 200+ amp alt to be honest.. if it was at idle, then try revving it to 3-4k rpm and see how the voltage is then Quote The DC Integra 3 18s to 6 15 build log Team_DC-Derrick's Youtube Team DC Audio where theres a will theres a wall....... aleroking
It was at 3k rmps yeh im just thinking its not 200 amps at all. It was only $100 and 1 year warranty so i figured why not? Team_DC-Derrick
when it comes to alts, it takes money to make power, if you go with the cheap stuff, thats what you get.. Decaf
get a smaller pulley... contact mechman for custom tooled pulleys for $25 iirc if the alt was just "wound hotter" which usually costs $80-150 it will perform better at higher rpms so u either need to turn ur idle up if its at 500-600 to 800rpm... if that doesnt get u any voltage get the smaller pulley this happens alot actually edit* didnt see it still happens at 3-4k... maybe ur clipping the shiznit out of ur amp Edited April 22, 2010 by Decaf
aleroking
the guy was deff stressing the fact to use the stock pully. If it was putting out any power at all i think that id be seeing it at 3000 rpms? I called yesterday but the guy who made it wasnt in. The other guy was talking about changing the internal regulator from 14.3 to 15 volts but i dont think that is going to change anything. Im gonna go in this weekend and get him to check it out worst case scenario im gonna try to get my money back.
