system not as loud as it should be....could it be box placement?

so i got a ED 9.1 amp powering a AQ HCD3 copper coil 12" sub in a 2.5 cubic inch box (ported) tuned to 38 Hz.

ive got it all hooked up and it works fine, but i was expecting alot more....it isn't too much louder than my alpine type r 12" on 500 watts rms.

im thinking it could be my box placement....the sub and port are facing the back of the car, but theres only like 11" between the trunk and box....my old one there was a good 2 foot space between the box and the trunk....im thinking maybe it can't resonate or something, because the trunk is too small.

im thinking maybe if i turn the box around (i have like 13" between the rear seats and box) it would be better... the problem is, is that the box is too wide to go all the way back in the trunk.

this sub box and sub were in my boys truck (with only AQ1200 powering it) and it slammed way harder....obviously a truck will hit harder because its open cabin, but to be twice as loud in there with a smaller amp something isn't right....and yes the sub is hooked up correctly to 1 ohm....

its just wierd cause i was expecting alot more, i knew it wouldn't be as loud in a sedan but i figured i could get close with a bigger amp.

another idea was that maybe my electricals cant handle the amp...i only have a stock 80 amp alternater, but my headlights dont even dim much, and when i give it gas it gets only a little bit louder.

im no expert but im ALMOST positive that the box placement ( 11inch away from whatever) has NOTHING to do with ur AQ not beating, it could be millions of things

Any air leaks? Try a few diffent box placements if possible. Try to scoot the box around (Closer to back, then further back). Depending on how the enclosure is built, flip it around so the port is on the opposing side. Point the woofers toward the front, basicly, try everything you can with what you have.

i relly dont think that it has anything to do with placment of the box, the onley thing i would say about that is sub up, port back

how is ur voltage when the bass hit

how are ur setting on the amp

how is ur sub wire

Sub up port back tends to suck balls in a trunk car.

Try it closer to the back of the car, not further away.

its should be decent i mean teh ED 9.1 is around 1200 rms the same as a audioque amp so idk what the problem is
