It finally happened to me!

I finally met some idiot who thinks he knows everything about audio and is completely clueless. He is constantly talking about all these subs hes getting...basically off-brand to semi-known-brand stuff. He says he wants to have 10's 12' and 15's in at once (i think hes got 12's and 10's now). Everything is mismatched of course. He is running a stock alternator and 4 gauge wire. He told me that he thinks if he got a couple more 12's or something he could blow his windows out.

He was talking to another delinquent in class about the electrical stuff because he keeps blowing out his alternator...so I decided to jump in and I told him to do the big 3 as a cheap way to get some more power...which sparked a 30 minute debate. I pulled out everything I know and he just said "There's no mechanical advantage to that."

Then he informed me how he is going to try and attach another alternator to his rear axle because he cant get it in his engine compartment. He also said he was going to try and make his car idle higher "like when the fan comes on" to get more power.

What you guys think lol

I love it when that happens. Most of them are just nonreceptive to new information. Most people don't even know what they don't know when it comes to car audio. A whole new world of information that even installers are not aware of.

I told him to ask someone that knows their stuff or get on some internet forums.

He asked his community college auto tech 1 teacher...and he said no as well..

He words the question "will using bigger wire make more power" and indirectly, yes it will, but no the wire isn't generating power.

He went on to tell me how the car manu. puts in the right size wire for the alternator and stuff and that any bigger wire is just wasted...

To the OP, just ignore him. Whenever I meet people, and try to help, and they reject the information saying it is stupid and will not work, I just let them do their thing. Sooner or later they will get tired of ruining shit, and ask for help and actually listen/apply it.
