Hey guys im getting a new car pretty soon. Going to be an 08 pontiac vibe hatchback WOOT. Ive always done 12s just because i never thought of running a 15. Now that im getting a hatch i figure why the hell not. I plan on running an hdc3 15 dual 2 on an aq 1200.1 Now what size box am i going to be looking at? I need to be able to fit the box my sub amp, speaker amp and my optima yeller back there. I would like to mount the speaker amp on the floor behind the box close to the back seat and then the sub amp on the box right above the speaker amp, matching amps of course. Would I be able to get away 3.5 cubes? I know 2 of my max dimensions width is about 38 inches and height about 15 to keep it under the window line. I can get the depth later. Another thing i was wondering is where the sub and port should fire, i was thinking that both the port and sub should fire towards the hatch so it would bounce and go towards the front. Any help would be awesome. Sorry for the long post.

copper coils or aluminum?

the spiders on the hdc is a little stiff so IMO you would want a little more power.

just skimming through.

sub up port back if you can do it.

Ok so here is the deal with box space. If you run a smaller airspace them you can run more power to the sub because the box helps to keep the subs suspension under control, I have an aq 15 and my box is right at 4 cubes and I ran a kicker 1500.1 to it for a while and it sounded amazing. That is pretty close to the power the aq1200 puts out. If you can get 4 cubes out of your box, you will be fine with that set up. Just my opinion

I can easily get 4 cubes into the back of the vibe. The thing i am concerned about is power. Im going to be running copper coils and its going to be wired down to 1 ohm so im going to be pulling a decent amount of current. The vibe only has an 80amp alt, big 3 in 1/0 and 1/0 through out the car. Duralast gold up front and optima yellow top out back.

Kevin what are the dimensions of your box so i can get a rough idea and see if a box that big will fit for sure

I didnt want to clutter my last post, so here are my dimensions width=38 height=18 depth=14 all in inches and those are my max dimensions, I put those specs into torres calculator and got a net volume of 4.36 so maybe with the port in there i can get it right around 4?

I forget my exact demensions but it came out to right around 4 cubes after displacement tuned at 32 hrz. I think you should be ok with your charging system with that aq1200. I would put the yellow top up front and get a new bat for the back though

I would do that too, but the optima is coming out of my 97 malibu and going into the 08 vibe, vibe takes a smaller batt and the yellow wont fit =(
