fecupe2001
AWESOME!!!! i already bought myself another mechman alternator, and you are using the same spot that i´m gonna be installing mine , doesn´t look that difficult right now after i saw your picture, i´m taking the 16v route now Also, i like that dual runs idea from the alternator!! baaudio
The only issue with the second alt is what to do with the stock battery. I figure I have two options.. A) replace stock batt with smaller agm relocate stock batt to passenger side and relocate coolant and washer fluid tanks to drivers side Option B seems best in my opinion because I can keep a relatively large battery under the hood. Thanks for the kind words sir, even on my recent vid lol. Dual alts is really a big goal for me right now. I'm dropping into 12s full tilt after about a full song.... fecupe2001
Yeah i do have a D3100 under the hood, guess i would get that battery on the back and just install a smaller xs power on the stock location, i don´t care that much since i would have a pair of D3100´s on the back, would be more than enough for the 12v electrical!!! I know you are using the other battery on the passenger side, that´s definitely a nice option if you ask me, i have a few options thanks to your ideas hehe, but yeah i´m REALLY interested on seeing the results from that dual bracket, that´s definitely the only place you can install a second alternator without loosing the A/C. baaudio
Well I finally made some real progress on my dual alt setup. I moved my battery over to the passenger side, cut my washer fluid tank off from the coolant tank. Replaced the coolant tank with a smaller one and removed the battery tray completely. Anyways enough talk, on to pics.... Here is the alt mounted up minus the lower bracket Got belt wrap??? baaudio
No new numbers, and voltage is better but unfortunately my Singer 250 smoked on me so I can't really speak for my voltage either. I'm going to probably ordering a Mechman tomorrow. My voltage is actually better with just this alternator then my other.... baaudio
A fellow team mate was selling a Mechman 270 amp GM large case alt and I was able to pick it up for a great price! this will definitely help my voltage issue. So now I have a Mechman 270 and a stock 130. I modded my "excite" wire on my GM alt with a PAC VR5 with is an adjustable resistor so now I can adjust my voltage to wherever I want it. I found that having it set at 14.75-.8 warm put me at about 15-15.1 cold and was a great balance for my system. Mechman 270 installed another dual alt pic got alts??
