xbox has red ring FUUUUUUUUUUU

Recommended Posts

Wrap the console in towels and leave it turned on for a few days. That's how my cousin got rid of the red ring.

That is true i've done it. Some people also put it in the fridge to get rid of the moisture from it being in the towel.

i fixed my xbox (kinda) it worked for about 2 months then got the red ring again i just followed this guy on youtubes instuctions (some guy in a clown mask) and it worked

Very interesting. got a link?

ive fixed my friend's xbox a couple times now. 1st time lasted a couple months cause i didnt heat it up enough. second time lasted a year, 3rd time was several months ago, its still working. i used the heat gun method and added pennies where those little band-aids are on the bottom of the board. they act as little heat sinks.

if anyone wants i can try to fix yours for a few bucks

fixing motherboards is my job at the moment so i know what im doing.

I have one of the first xboxs and a few months ago I got it and called them up and they emailed me a packing # and I sent it back for free. It had to be atleast 4 years old. They will send u a new one the same day they get yours as long as u don't open the console and break the stickers. I even left a game in it and I got that back also

I eventually would like a ps3, but money is tight form me right now. So, my xb360 will be good for a while, which i just bought a new one yesterday. Got sick of fixing it every time.

yep, or india lol.

all you guys have to do is call them up if its covered they will take care of it if not your screwed. the whole wrapping it in a towel and leaving it on is retarded too many here say shit ideas.

the towel method is to heat up the solder enough to melt the micro fractures back together. while i agree it is a very bad way to do it, i could still see it working. but to willingly overheat your system while its running? horrible.

All the towel trick does is shut it down for getting to hot and clears the red rings. But it will come back just like when u clear a code in your car its going to come back sooner or later. The Xbox gets hot but not hot enough to melt solder no matter what it says online. If that was the case the wider will go all over the place and it will fuck other this gs up

no way, if the problem is broken solder joints then clearing a code wont do shit. its not a software problem. and yes a microchip can get that hot if you take away its cooling. the solder sticks to the element when it melts, it doesn't flow like water. so no, you wouldnt have a puddle of solder lol. again, i work on motherboards for a living.
