byers319 Posted May 17, 2010 Report Posted May 17, 2010 im just wondering what the advantages of have a t-line instead of a slot port are, or vise versa well obviously a t-line the port is longer thanks!
EclipseChris Posted May 17, 2010 Report Posted May 17, 2010 im just wondering what the advantages of have a t-line instead of a slot port are, or vise versa well obviously a t-line the port is longer thanks! From what i understand, T-Lines are da shiz (technical terms). If you can, do a T-Line. They hit lows like crazy. Only problem (correct me if i am wrong) that i know of is that they have to be HUGE. Slot ports are easy to make, easy to calculate, and generally smaller than T-Lines. i resolve to be a nicer moderator. Tercel build R.I.P. Eclipse build Old New V-Dub My feedback.
IH8PunkRok Posted May 17, 2010 Report Posted May 17, 2010 t-lines are actually easier to calculate than a slot port (as it doesnt require a pre-made calc) t-lines are in essence the perfect box for your woofer. each box is designed to the woofers specs. they play music really well and bring out the best in most any woofer. it is true that a traditional bass reflex design can be louder than a t-line, (with the right woofer) that t-line will sound better and play more flat. t-lines are generically quite large and very hard to design however. -Matt2005 Dodge Magnum RTJVC KD-AVX1 2 PPI S580.2 Obsidian Audio ST1 Horn Tweeters PRV 8MB450s Audio Legion 3500.1D 2 RE MT 18s 360 ah LiFePO4 BatterySHCA 2/0 155.2 @ 29 hzKicker CVR 15's buildDD 3512e buildMini T-Line Build(6) 8s BuildNightshade 15s Wall BuildMagnum AB XFL 12s BuildNewest Magnum Build
byers319 Posted May 17, 2010 Author Report Posted May 17, 2010 that seems like an oxy moron there easier to calculate but harder to design? so are t-lines or slots going to give me more dbs
dugee81 Posted May 17, 2010 Report Posted May 17, 2010 With a slot, you specify around what hz frequency you want your sub to peak at, where as t-lines are more flat with response. I haven't had a t-line tho so I can't say which one is louder 200a alt. by Excessive Amperage hc800 under hood & 2 Deka 9a31 in rear 1/0awg + big 3 SAZ 3000D HDC3 18" @ 2 ohm
IH8PunkRok Posted May 17, 2010 Report Posted May 17, 2010 that seems like an oxy moron there easier to calculate but harder to design? so are t-lines or slots going to give me more dbs not an oxy-moron by any means i can calculate required dimensions in a matter of minutes but drawing it up to fit in a vehicle with minimal turns proves to be difficult t-lines are not used for db's mainly because a general rule of thumb it to use half rms power so you do not blow your woofer. there is no back pressure -Matt2005 Dodge Magnum RTJVC KD-AVX1 2 PPI S580.2 Obsidian Audio ST1 Horn Tweeters PRV 8MB450s Audio Legion 3500.1D 2 RE MT 18s 360 ah LiFePO4 BatterySHCA 2/0 155.2 @ 29 hzKicker CVR 15's buildDD 3512e buildMini T-Line Build(6) 8s BuildNightshade 15s Wall BuildMagnum AB XFL 12s BuildNewest Magnum Build
zfrerichs Posted May 17, 2010 Report Posted May 17, 2010 Ported box will be louder. But will require more power Roseville, CA
IH8PunkRok Posted May 17, 2010 Report Posted May 17, 2010 so t-lines are more for SQ kinda their main purpose is efficiency but they do sound really good -Matt2005 Dodge Magnum RTJVC KD-AVX1 2 PPI S580.2 Obsidian Audio ST1 Horn Tweeters PRV 8MB450s Audio Legion 3500.1D 2 RE MT 18s 360 ah LiFePO4 BatterySHCA 2/0 155.2 @ 29 hzKicker CVR 15's buildDD 3512e buildMini T-Line Build(6) 8s BuildNightshade 15s Wall BuildMagnum AB XFL 12s BuildNewest Magnum Build
