What college did you guys go to for car audio?

Most guys learned through many years of just messing around wtih cars, or on this website trough each other. Dont think there is any traditional college that will teach you this. But there are some techincal schools out there that cost a pretty penny to attend, but nothing will compare to just getting real world exprience. Also you can pretty much learn everything on here that any school will teach you.

it's not really a college course, but i attended acoustic edge in houston, tx...i recommend that if you are planning to pursue mobile/home electronics as a career to start with the following..get certified just to learn the mathmatics and show future employers your serious..also keep a portfolio of work you have done(make sure its clean work with great detail)..the best advice is to make an extensive resume with your portfolio and drop it off with either the head installer or sales manager..it is important not to bother them just a simple introduction and hand it to them..if you have a nice sounding vehicle with a clean install you might even offer them a demo; if they are not too busy..and if you are serious about a career in mobile electronics i suggest specializing in alarms and box building; these two things will give you more job security..I currently go to a tech school for computer and electronic engineering technology..if your serious about moving up in the industry i would recomend eith geting a business degree of some sort or an engineering/applied science degree from a tech school/jr college or university.

i ran my own small shop from 14-18; and i tried starting one again back in '07..in my opinion its a lot of headache to run one sucessfully, due to a couple of factors..most areas have their one or two good shops and a few cheap shops alreay; so it can be tricky to find your niche..my goal was always to get into either being a field tech or sales rep for an electronics company; then working my way up through the company..

i would highly reccomend getting a degree from a 4 year college if possible even if you have to attend a jr. college for the first two years..tech schools are expensive; if you can get grants then its not to bad...jr. college is the cheapest route usually..also you can take the mecp cert yourself; you can buy the book and find a test center that will give the test..if you have any other questions feel free to message me on here
