Damn you guys made me wet with that make-up. :)

Seriously though, you may or may not lose dbs from the box moving. If your 4 18s box is as close to the tailgate as mine was the tailgate has a direct impact on your tuning. This would also mean if the air from the port was flowing under the box when it lifted it could hurt your score.

At the back of your vehicle under your box there are two rings you can use to hook things to. You can remove the star bolt holding them in place and you will now have a clear view down to the ground. Then put your box back in place, drill out the hole from under the car into your box for location, then finish drilling from above so you don't mess up the threads on the truck. Bolt into those holes and you're done.

Why not bring a drill to a show with you, meter the truck at a set volume, bolt it down, then meter again and find out. SPL is finicky and it's impossible to say how different things effect your score. Some flexing may improve numbers oddly enough, though that's not the case most of the time.

it just seems to me,,that if the box is moving up and down, therefor absorbing some of the woofers exscursion, and therefor reducing its air moving abillity..seems they wouldnt be moving to their full capability

a flexing box will lose SPL, but its not going to be noticeable really without a wall and a highly reinforced SPL vehicle... maybe 1 db at the most.

You could put a threaded rod or two through from the face to the bottom with a steel plate (just a 4"x4" one or so, stronger than washers) on each end of the rod.. use a couple nuts to tighten it down a bit and you're done. Might need to raise the box with something like a 1/4" layer of mdf or plywood with a hole cut for the rod/nut on the bottom to sit in.

Any time you have have a power wire next to your frame put some rubber hosing (or cut up an innertube) around it. The wire is bound to wiggle (due to driving or flex) and the casing will eventually wear through.
