ok so my brakes were almost going to the floor and my brake light was on until i pumped them. my check engine light is funny sometimes so idk if the abs box is going out. bled all lines. fluid seem to squirt out without any air in lines. well i changed the master cylinder prior to doing all these things. the brake light isint on but the pedal is spongy and goes down 2 inches + before stopping the truck. can anyone help a brotha out before i change the brake booster????

My truck did this when i first got it but it stopped doing this about a month after. Idk if yours will do the same. BTW is your Tahoe a SS?

Are you still running the drums in the rear?

If you are, take the drums off, and readjust your rear shoes.

Prob want to adjust them out til they slightly rub the drum.

I know I have to re adjust mine every now and then because my pedal also went straight to the floor with ease, and was only stopping on the front pads.

A easy way to know if the rear shoes need to be adjusted is just push your ebrake down. If it goes down half way or less and is hard, they are somewhat good.

if the e brack pedal goes all the way to the floor with ease the rear shoes need to be adjusted.

The rear drums have self adjusters which adjust by driving in reverse and stopping with the ebrake repeatedly but it dont work so great on my hoe even with all new brake hardware.

you can try the wheel cylinders, they are fairly cheap and under 20$, and not too hard to change.

However if it was those, Id almost have to think that they would be leaking or show signs of leaking. I could be totally wrong tho.

If it was your abs box, your truck would be kicking the dummy light a good bit and stay on pretty consistantly. Id try to find someone with a scanner that can actually read codes and not just erase codes like the ones most autopart stores have.

Checking the rear shoes still may be a wise idea, and cheap and quick to do before dropping money on a new booster.

When you stop, do you feel it nose dive towards the front at all, or does it seem like the truck stays pretty level?

it kinda does nose dive. it seems like it squeeks in the rear when you dont press them hard enough. i think the sound is comming from the rear. ima check the wheel cylinders and rear shoes tomorrow. the booster and master cylinder together cost me $150 so not too bad. its coo just as long as the abs box aint bad. i got a hypertech on that thing. no abs codes.
