Here's my simple system. There's not much to it, but it'll hold me over for a while.

2008 Saturn Vue

Stock HU

Stock door speakers

MTX RFL600D

12" Adire Audio Shiva

Prefab 1.21 cubic foot sealed box

I'm still trying to decide what I want to do for upgrades. Most likely the factory HU will remain. I do plan on replacing the door speakers, but these sound pretty good so they will do for now.

I'm still trying to decide what to do for my subs and amps. The sub amp was bought used for a very good price, so I couldn't pass it up. I plan on replacing it eventually also. For subs, I keep flipping back and forth between staying really small and going bigger. The only thing about going bigger is that this is our family vehicle, so the sub(s) have the very good chance of being removed when we go shopping, etc. It's not that big of a deal, just kind of a pain having to take them out all the time. Anyway, enough talk. Onto the pics:

Like I said, not much to it, but I'm happy (for now). I'll try and get some videos taken and posted this weekend.

Thanks a lot. And I definately want more. Always have, always will.

The pictures are deceiving. Even with the box in there it looks like there's quite a bit of space, but it's really hard trying to cram groceries in there. I was actually thinking sealed in a downfiring box, but I'm not sure. Still doing some research on it. I'll try a temporary setup with my current box in the near future, experimenting with downfiring it to see what kind of output I get.

here is your answer for trunk space.

P1020539.jpg

its made out of apple ply. think its 1/2". the stuff is very light and very strong. its 2 panels so they are very easy to put in and take out. i had better pics but i cant seem to find them. might have some in my build log. i use that any time i need to use my trunk. you get to keep your bass and not have to worry about live speaker wires or any of that junk. just build a low/wide box and you'll have more room above it.

If I answered you in a well mannered, informative way, you asked a good question or had a good attitude. If I was an asshole, you asked a stupid question or you had a fucktard attitude... or I was in a bad mood.

I'd actually thought about something like that. It would need to be light so I could take it out in case I need to get to the spare tire. Kind of makes me wish I would have bought something with the spare on the outside.

not to thread jack but did you see the build log? that pic isnt even close to finished. i go fairly step by step on the build log.

piece of cake, the back seats fold down flat to the trunk correct? you can just take the top piece out and slide the box forward onto those seats. no heavy lifting on the side of the road. the tops that i made weigh about 5lbs each half, just guessing. and those are just 1.5" dowels with one screw holding them on. they arnt attached to the car in any way, they just fit tight. so again, its very easy to take out. it also doubles as an anti theft device if you leave it in all the time. keeps passers by from seeing you have a system. if you want help with any part of it feel free to pm me.

Part of it does. The other side is taken up by a car seat. Maybe I could just bungee cord the spare to the roof. :ehh: But I really do like the idea of everything hidden. I wanted to fit something in the spare tire well, under the rear seat, but there's not enough room to fit anything substantial in there. I could probably squeeze a single 8", but it would be tough and I know it won't be enough.

Another thing I plan on doing is moving the bass knob. Right now it's way under the dash which makes it kind of hard to adjust while driving. I'm trying to figure out how to mount it in the center console where the cigarette lighter is. I'd like to just pull out the lighter and make up some kind of plate to attach the knob to, but I'm having some trouble getting into/removing the console. I'll take some pictures of it in the next day or so and post them up.

wouldnt the car seat be pretty easy to take out? at least easier than a sub box? ive never had to do that lol.

i have seen a SQ car with a 15" sub under the spare tire. not sure what he did for an enclosure. it wasnt meant to get loud at all though. if you wanted to do something like that you would need to cut the floor and make a fiberglass box under the car. a hell of a lot of work for bass. the bright side being it would look completely stock unless you look under the car.

the next easiest solution i can think of would be to make a false floor that the box will attach to/be a part of. on the back, next to the seats, you have a big hinge. now you can lift the box up far enough to get to the spare tire. you could even make it all downfire with openings of grill cloth in the false floor to let the sound back up. this way you dont need a removable top and no one can see what you have. and to hold the box up you could go simple with some wood stands or you could do shocks and not have to lift all that weight.

OR, duct tape the spare tire under the car, on the roof, on the hood, wherever you think looks best ;)
