white_boi_audio Posted July 19, 2007 Report Posted July 19, 2007 Well I don't know If someone has asked this before but I have been wondering this for a while. If you have like say a lot of 18's on like as much as Steve has or more how come that thump vibrations don't make your air bag to deploy or explode? This might be a dumb question but i was wondering cause I just saw some videos of Steve's hoe. ChevyBoy Posted July 19, 2007 Report Posted July 19, 2007 cause he doesnt have an air bag on the steering wheel he does have one on the passenger side though. idk. ive wondered it too Quote
EricR Posted July 19, 2007 Report Posted July 19, 2007 because there are sensors on most cars on the front somewhere around the front of the front clips that have to be engaged....you cant just have some bass and it go off.....but steve would be an exception lol Quote i was thinking leave the 12 sitting in the box in the hole and duck tape from the bottom of the sub to the bottom of the baffle so the sub doesnt free air. would that work?
white_boi_audio Posted July 19, 2007 Author Report Posted July 19, 2007 Yea Ive wondered for a long time I don't have any air bags so I don't have to worry and Steve does a lot of demos Quote "MY RIDE" 1987 Chevy Cavalier Z24 2.8L V6 -- CB Radio with PA speaker Head Unit: 7 inch Jensen Flip-out -- Speakers: 4 Visonik 6 1/2s and 4 Visonik 6x9s Subwoofer: One Audiobahn 18 - Sub Amp: Power Acoustik OV1-2000d 2000 watt monoblock amp -- Battery in back - Kinetic HC600 -- Sub box: Custom built 5 cubic foot tuned to 30 hertz Coming soon: Bigger Highs Amp, Power inverter "WhItE bOi AuDiO" "FEAR THE DUCK"

ChevyBoy Posted July 19, 2007 Report Posted July 19, 2007 i believe it has to be like 10mph or 15mph. an impact is different from vibrations. Quote
bassINyoFACE Posted July 19, 2007 Report Posted July 19, 2007 Because air bag sensors measure deceleration, vehicle speed and damage are not good indicators of whether an air bag should have deployed. Occasionally, air bags can deploy due to the vehicle's undercarriage violently striking a low object protruding above the roadway surface. Despite the lack of visible front-end damage, high deceleration forces may occur in this type of crash, resulting in the deployment of the air bag. The airbag sensor is a MEMS accelerometer, which is a small integrated circuit chip with integrated micromechanical elements. The microscopic mechanical element moves in response to rapid deceleration, and this motion causes a change in capacitance, which is detected by the electronics on the chip, which then sends a signal to fire the airbag. The most common MEMS accelerometer in use is the ADXL-50 by Analog Devices, but there are other MEMS manufacturers as well. also believe or not air bags reach a DB level of 175db's--- that's insane loud!!! Guest MegaloManiac Posted July 19, 2007 Report Posted July 19, 2007 this whole article explains how an airbag system works. Its really informative. Its very fascinating to read about how and why it works. http://auto.howstuffworks.com/airbag.htm Quote
