Sd

Measured in square metres (m²). The effective projected area of the cone or diaphragm. It is difficult to measure and depends largely on the shape and properties of the surround. Generally accepted as the cone body diameter plus one third to one half the width of the annulus (surround). Drivers with wide roll surrounds can have significantly less Sd than conventional types with the same frame diameter.

I read about 1/3rd of this thread, I got instantly annoyed with the design concepts

Okay, reason why NOT to miss match subs......

1) different size cones, do move at different rates due to mass, and air displacement

2) ALOT of woofer manufacturers use different coils, motors, suspension set ups just going from the same product line 10" to 12" to 15

3) using even same woofers, at different locations in the car will cause phase issues

4) phase issues with everything about this build

But you did say you will be using matching 18s now, good work

If you ever do miss match subs, make sure they are tuned an octave apart say 30hz and 60hz, and cross them over correctly
