Alrite im new to the car audio scene but my dad use to be big in it and knows how to hook up and install the stuff but anyways right now im running 1 alpine 1222d type r to a 800 watt kenwood 7201 amplifier. Im interested in the audioque sdc2.512-d4 and just wanna know if il see a huge difference on the same amp and im gonna keep the same box which is a 1.5cubic feet tuned to 35hz with an aeroport. just wanna hear if il be happy or not or what more to buy thanks alot.

Nah save your money. The type-r is actually a decent sub.

I love my AQ SDC2.5, they take a beating. I have my 15" running off about 900rms in a about 4^3ft box tuned to 36hz and it slams. If you go with AQ you will not regret it. They have amazing prices, products, and costumer service.

Keep the Type R and get a new amp.

Stop looking at peak watt numbers. They are useless. This amp puts out 460 watts bridged at 4 ohms.

Find an amp that makes about 600 watts RMS at either 1 ohm or 4 ohm. You may be able to get away with a little more power if the gains are set correctly (they should be anyway) and you don't use bass boosts.

EDIT: Matter of fact, you won't really see any large gain by getting a new amp even.

EDIT 2: The SDC and Type-R are equivalent subs. It wouldn't really pay to switch from the R to an SDC.

IMO anyway.

I love my Type R's Only downfall I have is they really hate excursion, or at least how much i want them to move.
