Need Help with System

OK SO. First off hello and thanks for viewing my post :)

Heres what i have:

1998 Chevy Tahoe

Stock Alternator

Optima redtop

Pioneer Headunit

pioneer amp with 800RMS Mono block

2x 12" Kicker L7's(750 RMS each)

Now, My questions.

Can my current alternator put up with the draw from the subs?

Being my amp is currently only putting out 800 rms being 400 rms each sub at 2ohms. Would i need to upgrade my current alternator for when i buy a kicker 1500.1 Amplifier?

Should I wire up a 2nd battery? And if i do, Does it have to be an optima red top? or can it be any battery?

Should i get a capacitor? and if i do, would it draw from my battery and kill my

alternator in a negative way?

( dont want to from everything i've read )

I'm sure i have more questions. BUT, if anyone could answer my current ones, id be more than delighted :)

Hell even donate some 1/0 wiring and a 1500.1 amp ;)

get your second battery first, lose the cap, run 1/0 wires front to back run 300 anl fuses by your front battery and back battery, that way when you get your new amp you're all set as far as the alt, depends on how big your current is, amp wise... if its a 90 then upgrade it. and then you're done

Well im on a budget, My current batter for starting is a red top optima, By adding a 2nd battery could my second be a yellow top optima? ( yellow top is deep cycle ) also, my current alternator is 140AMP.

X2 Capacitors are damn near useless. From what I understand the only application a capacitor works in is if you have very very very little to no voltage drop and you just want the cap to have that extra bit of juice on the hard long notes. Try and findout what size stock alternator you have, in my 06 silverado I had a 120 amp alt stock, I upgraded to a high output but the 120 and my stock battery handled my aq 1200 just fine. I would get a second battery, does not have to be a redtop, if your going to stick with optima get a yellowtop for the back, if not go with whatever you want i would recommend getting a bigger battery just because youll have it already if you decide to go bigger. Id, do the big 3 in 1/0 gauge and 1/0 from front battery to 2nd battery. always fuse like speedball said.

With a 140 amp, red and yellowtop you should be able to handle 1500 rms with ease, Big 3 and some 1/0 gauge and your voltage should be sittin nice

OK SO WHO HAS 1/0 WIRES LAYING AROUND ;)

Look in the for sale section Im sure a bunch of people have some layin around. if not I got a good deal on ebay from knukonceptz wire, you shouldnt need that much just to do the big 3 and hook up a second battery. depending on where you plan to put the second battery
