Hey just an update on what I Did today, I took out the 2 subs I have the easiest access to and hooked them up each individually @ 2 ohms and cranked it, I am a little sketched about about blasting the sub free air just because i have never done it really and i dont know whats safe but i made them each move pretty good and the amp did not cut off, but the other 2 that I kept in the box are wired @ 1 ohm without the other 2 hooked up so I tried to run those 2 and the amp cut out at 1 ohm. Tomorrow I am going to test those 2 subs by themselves and then if those each check out fine i will wire all 4 up to 2 ohm final load and try that as well, can anyone make any sense out of cutting out with 2 at 1 ohm and not either 1 of the other 2 at 2 ohms? also is what im doing pontless in checking them all by themselves or am I right in thinking that if i check them all alone that means there shouldnt be any issues with the subs, no shorts or burnt coils or anything?

Sounds like you had a good amp fixed. Damn.

What do you mean? I am going to be taking the other 2 subs out of the box and testing them alone hopefully I find something the subs are still in warranty. I'm just hoping testing them all alone will give me my answer . What did you mean by if it stabilizes?

Use a DMM to check the coil impedance. If it does not show stable OHM load your coils are fried. I mean if it constantly moves not moves.

I have checked 2 so far and one moved back from 4.1-4.2 a few times but could that just be the meter trying to decide if it's closer to 4.1 or 4.2 ohms how much would it fluctuate if a coil was screwed up

If it was blown it would fluctuate alot more like from 1 to 3 to 2 to 5 to 7 and so on snd so on.

Is you're amp the clif designs CD4800.1LX?

If so, then the amp is only made to play at 1ohm.(it says minimum load stabilty 0.5 ohms.)

But in a daily system you wouldn't want to run amps at 0.5 ohm, never trust box rise.

With that i mean, don't just think, that with box rise you will be over 1 ohm.

With music the impedance fluctuates, and can drop to 0.5 ohms.(sometimes below it)

So just run it at 2 ohm.

Thinking is the root of all problems...

You ALWAYS get what you pay for.

It is that model yes, and I wasnt really counting on rise to save me I was just assuming what they say in the manual is true "stable to .5 ohms" I can take a pic of the page in the manual if you want.

New update though, I just got done testing the second 2 subs by themselves wired at 2 ohm, I cranked it pretty loud and no protect, now Im really confused I guess maybe I didnt turn it up enough when i check them by themself but I turned it up until the sub was moving like crazy and I got a hint of the burning smell (i get it quick because I basically had my head in the box smelling for it to make sure I dont cook anything, but no protect when I play them individual but when I tried these 2 yesterday at 1 ohm together it protected, know I know you are all saying its cuz I had them wired to .5 but why would it protect when I only have 2 subs hooked up for a final load of 1?

Also no fluctuations when I put my meter on the coils they all read at 4 or slightly higher.

voltage everytime it cut out was above 14. I ran this amp for over 3 months before it broke in the first place and even at full tilt it rarely dropped below 13 lowest it ever went was 12.8 parked and that would only be for a few seconds. The amp is rated stable to .5 ohms by the manufacturer.

My amp goes on protect but it was normal, mine goes on protect when i turn it up too loud simply because it cant handle my woofers, so i can beat really really hard, i just can go to certain volume on some songs, like my limit on Thug Motivation is 26 or 27/35. But you know its all good, Im getting a new amp here soon.
