Montross89
I purchased a Hifonics 1606D for my car its a 97 Ford Escort. has a stock alternator and battery basically. I want to know if i can just upgrade to get a yellow top for just the sub and amp then later on upgrade the alternator. Also how much will these voltage drops harm my battery, sub, and amp? Anyway i can try and avoid it for now so i can save up to buy a new alternator and all that? BassJunkie
I don't think you should have too many voltage drops with a yellow top and stock battery with that amp, I think Accordman had an explorer maybe he'll respond to this. Montross89
Alright well i wont be getting a yellow top for a lil bit so yeah. Im sure my stock battery will being getting hit hard. Do you happen know how bad the voltage drops could be? My buddy is running an 18" FI SSD with a Crunch 1600.1 and he says his drop is like 10.7 volts or something with a red top battery just that tho. Midnite
Yours will probably be similar, adding the yellow top wont help near as much as the alternator would. I have a second battery on mine and my voltage drops to around 10.5. David
do the big 3 in 1/0 and I bet you dont have nearly the problem you have now, along with a agp type batt you should be fine, I ran a AB 150.1 on 1 batt and stock alt and didnt have voltage drops like that, and I will garuntee that 1606 isnt nearly as powerfull as the 150.1 upgrade all your wire to 1/0 and then add a batt if your still having big voltage drops something is wrong.
