I can even with the foam like that, the box is further back than it appears. If you see my 10's build, I cut the foam and taped it all up, I'll be doing the same thing yes you can if you do it right. I know with my 10's while I was at a show I had them up and playing and it didn't sound that much different, of course it's quieter but mine didn't sound bad at all.
